Glyceryl Stearate

Glyceryl stearate is made from stearic acid, a fatty acid derived from coconut oil. Glyceryl stearate has benefits for the skin, improving hydration and can help support the Natural Moisturising Factors found in the skin.

It is considered natural, environmentally friendly and hypoallergenic.

Sucrose Stearate

This is a mixture of sucrose (from sugar cane) and a natural substance known as stearic acid. In cosmetics, sucrose stearate can act as a skin emollient for use in moisturisers, hand and foot creams and body lotions. Sucrose stearate also acts as an emulsifier to help blend oil and water based products.

Coco-glucoside

Coconut Glucoside is produced through a chemical reaction between fruit sugars and coconut oil ingredients, hence the name. It is a totally natural non-ionic surfactant. It is a powerful natural cleanser and because it is derived from coconut and fruit sugars, it is gentle enough for all skin types and is perfectly biodegradable.

Benzyl Alcohol

Benzyl alcohol is produced naturally by many plants and is commonly found in fruits and teas. In cosmetics and skin care products, benzyl alcohol functions as a fragrance component, preservative, solvent, and viscosity decreasing agent. Most of these functions help improve the sensory sensation and smell of the formulation with little benefit or alteration of skin condition. This organic preservative compound is a non-parapene, non-formaldehyde, non-isothiazolone preservative system.

Xanthan Gum

A substance produced by natural fermentation of sugar cane juice. Xanthan gum may not be an active ingredient, but its use in skin care is significant to the texture and formulation of the product. It is not known to have any toxic or harmful side effects, may be appropriate for use in natural and organic skincare and is thought to have some moisturising benefits for the skin.

Coconut Alcohol

This is obtained by the natural fermentation of coconut juice. Rich in healthy fats, these alcohols are commonly used as emulsifiers to help create a thick, luxurious texture in skin care products.

Lactic Acid

Lactic acid is a natural organic acid that can be found in plants, pickled vegetables and fermented soy foods such as soy sauce. It is used in cosmetics to adjust the pH of the formula, and for its moisturising and exfoliating properties.

Dehydroacetic Acid

Dehydroacetic acid like benzyl alcohol is an organic compound that comes from the solandra, or nightshade, flower species and is accepted for use in natural cosmetics. This organic preservative compound is a non-parapene, non-formaldehyde and non-isothiazolone preservative system.

Phenoxyethanol

(PE) is a preservative that occurs naturally in green tea and chicory. Phenoxyethanol is safe. According to Cosmetic Ingredient Review, when used in concentrations of 1% or less, phenoxyethanol in skin care is safe. This is also the same standard that the European Commission on Health and Food Safety uses as well.
